Primarily based on the video game with the same name, the film also shares some elements with the other games in the Prince of Persia series. Several previously unnamed characters have gained names for the film, including the fact that the Prince actually has a name: Dastan, and the Princess' name has been changed from Farah to Tamina.The main antagonist is not an evil vizier in the film, but rather a villainous nobleman called Nizam. The film also adds a detailed backstory to the Prince which has never been mentioned in the games. Furthermore, the Prince's costume is based on his appearance in Warrior Within instead of The Sands Of Time.
